About
The Foundation for Aspiring Minority Accountants, Inc. (FAMA) aims to bridge the gaps that exist between minority communities and the field of accounting, increasing the representation of accountants of African-American, Hispanic, and Asian descent in the field.
Based in Fort Worth, Texas, our nonprofit organization targets aspiring accountants from minority backgrounds who are currently enrolled at Dallas-Fort Worth high schools and colleges.
Working in tandem with local universities, community colleges, and school districts, we help students envision and activate careers in accounting by matching them with experienced mentors from minority backgrounds who have shared cultural experiences and challenges. We also connect students with scholarships and professional internships.
Our ultimate goal is to open doors of opportunity for BIPOC students in the world of accountancy as we advance the field into the 21st century.
We understand the challenges faced by minority communities when it comes to gaining experience in accounting. That’s why we created an organization that aims to bridge the existing gaps through the power of professional mentorship and other support.
